A type of machinery in the material handling business that could be used to lift and move loads from one place to another is known as a forklift. Each and every component of a forklift has a specific function. Different parts can be utilized to move the load either horizontally or vertically.

Mast
The forklift mast refers to all the components that lift and lower the load. There are various types of masts utilized for raising loads to different heights: simplex, duplex, triplex and quad.

Power Supply
There are four different ways you could power a forklift: gas, electric, propane and diesel. The battery is situated within the cab beneath the seat. The propane tank is on the back of the truck. The fuel tank on diesel and gas forklifts is under the rear of the truck.

Cab
The forklift cab is situated within the center of the truck. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the informational gauges and controls. The steering wheel, gas pedal, tilting controls, brake and lifting controls are all situated within the cab.

Frame
The truck frame carries all the biggest parts of the forklift, including the counterweights, which are situated at the rear so as to prevent the truck from tipping when loaded. The frame includes the overhead guard which protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the driveshaft, axles and wheels.
