Lift Truck Parts in More Detail
A lift truck is made of thousands of components. The key parts that make up a forklift truck are the truck frame, the engine components, the overhead guard, the tilt cylinders and the wheels. Moreover, a forklift has a variety of attachments. All the parts making up a forklift are of equal importance because they work together to make the functions of the machinery possible. The following paragraphs describe some of the lift truck parts in detail.
The Overhead Guard - this guard forms the forklift truck's metal roof. It sits over the cab area and protects the equipment operator whilst she or he is sitting and driving. The overhead guard ensures that nothing falling from above onto the truck will harm the operator or damage the controls inside the cab. The overhead guard is integral to the frame assembly on several models.
The Mast - Mounted either to the front axle or the forklift frame, the mast is the vertical lift truck component made of interlocking rails. The mast allows the forks to move up and down whilst providing lateral stability. The interlocking rails could either have bushings or bushings as guides. There are two ways the mast could be operated: hydraulically by one or more hydraulic cylinders or chain operated with motive power provided by a hydraulic motor.
Forklift Carriage - The carriage is the component which the forks and different other types of attachments are mounted to. The carriage is in fact directly connected to the hydraulic cylinder and is attached by chains. To allow the forks to be raised and lowered, the carriage can have either rollers or bushings to guide it in the interlocking mast rails.
Load Back Rest - a back rest is a metal rack that prevents a load from falling backwards while the carriage is lifted to its full height. The back rest is either welded or bolted on to the carriage.
Lift Truck Attachments - a variety of attachments could be fixed to the front of the forklift truck. The most common kind of attachment is forks. Moreover, there are rotators, rollers, L-shaped members, pole handlers, roll clamps and and all that. These different attachments are useful for moving different types of loads.
